Ewelina Reszke, CEO & Founder of GoGetty

Founder Of The Month is a blog series, where Women in Tech DK interview female tech entrepreneurs, who want to share their stories and tip and tricks from their own startup journeys.

GoGetty, is the first employer branding, career and diversity platform that makes Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) measurable and transparent. With GoGetty we are helping to bridge the gap between innovative companies, diverse talents and D&I solution partners.

Ewelina Reszke founded GoGetty as she saw a business opportunity in helping the largest Danish companies, already reporting to authorities in the matters of diversity in Boards of Directors, make a more impactful use of the reported data to attract more talents.

So, what is GoGetty – it’s an online, social platform for innovative companies, talents as well as diversity & inclusion solution providers – it’s a ‘Linkedin’ and ‘Trustpilot’ in one.

As much as 86% of female millennials consider prospective employers’ diversity, equality and inclusion.

If you, as a company, want to attract and retain diverse talents and grow your business at the same time – go and create a diversity profile of your organization on GoGetty.

This is where we invite you to share your company’s diversity numbers, policies and goals – to strengthen your employer brand and fully reap the benefits of a diverse workforce and tap into the complete talent pool.

As many companies may have not yet put focus on diversity and inclusion in their strategies and budgets – and yet they do not want to be left out. That is exactly why the third element on the GoGetty platform, besides companies and talents, is so important – the Solution Partners.

GoGetty is hence the go-to one-stop digital platform for proven Diversity & Inclusion solutions – all gathered in one place.

1. WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT LEARNING YOU HAD?

Start wherever and exactly where you are! There will never be the perfect circumstances, so it’s important to just begin.

The start-up community is an amazing community of ambitious, hard-working, inspiring and helpful people. Find your way to them. Ask for help and offer help. You will be amazed by how far you can get with their support.

Learn to heal your wounds quickly!

2. WHY ARE YOU THE BEST TO RUN YOUR COMPANY?

With a long and fulfilling career behind and in front of me I was not really looking for changes until the initial inspiration to create GoGetty came to me. I was outraged and irritated by the way women and top management positions in Denmark were debated in the Danish media. That was about a year ago and it was such an intense experience that I decided to act.

I began to study the subject of diversity only to open a Pandora box of misinformation, misunderstandings, poorly gathered data and lack of will to address such an important matter in a positive and constructive way.

I am the best to run GoGetty as I saw the problem and the challenge, that we all face in a biased world, from a new perspective and decided to act on my urge to create a lasting solution.

3. WOULD YOU RECOMMEND OTHER WOMEN TO START THEIR OWN COMPANY AND WHY?

I would and I already recommend other women (and men) to start their own company. The learning curve that you go through can probably only be compared to the early childhood where every day brings tons of new experiences, impressions and lessons.

I recommend it because nobody should go through live with their dreams, not even those secretly hidden at the back of their heads, without trying to realize them.

Plus, we women, just have it in us – the organizing, structuring but also entrepreneurial gene.

4. WHAT IS YOUR BEST TIP TO STAYING HEALTHY AND PRODUCTIVE WHILE YOU ARE RUNNING A STARTUP?

I love this question and I think we should speak more about it. Even before starting my own business, I regularly went to the gym, mainly for weightlifting and toning exercises. I would aim for every 2nd day. These days, when I still have a demanding full-time job and build my own business at the same time, it has become my outmost priority to find time for the gym at least 3 times a week. So physical activity is definitely super important.

I am also a vegetarian so I do eat healthy and in those times of the year when we are all more prone to infections and colds, I supplement my diet with vitamins and minerals.

Besides that, I believe also in a healthy mind and strong spirit. This is for sure where my faith plays an important role. The cleansing effect a good prayer and/or meditation has, receives increasing appreciation also among top leaders of large corporations.

5. WHAT IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE YOU HAVE MADE?

A little bit more than a year ago, when the GoGetty concept was still vague I had a strong determination to realize my idea with interns and voluntary resources only. I could not have been more wrong. I wasted at least 3 months and even though they were not entirely wasted, I would rather have launched the GoGetty platform 3 months earlier.

So, I would advise anybody with a business idea to quickly search for professional help.

6. WHAT IS YOUR BEST ADVICE  TO FUTURE ENTREPRENEURS?

Winners never quit! Quitters never win! – I believe that all the hardships and challenges that you will go through as an entrepreneur can pretty much some up to these two sentences.

As a passionate mountaineer, I would also say – learn to enjoy the process – as reaching the summit may not always be the nirvana you were climbing for.
